Does checkout calculate sales tax, and can billing and shipping addresses be different?

Sales tax calculation is not available in checkout. Separate bill-to and ship-to addresses on an order are also not available: the three-step order form can collect shipping information and a billing address, but it does not offer separate bill-to and ship-to addresses.
